On April 17, Sensei Kinjo was presented the Caring Canadian award by the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada.

On September 17th, Sensei Kinjo, a longtime supporter of the Alberta Birds of Prey Centre, released 5 birds back into the wild that were under the care of the Centre.
